Berawal dari kebingungan saya akan beberapa istilah dari macam-macam program postgraduate atau pascasarjana di Inggris, akhirnya saya menemukan sebuah artikel yang bagus dan memberikan gambaran yang cukup lengkap. Berikut ini sedikit rangkuman dari artikel tersebut, tautannya akan saya sertakan di akhir tulisan ini. Selamat membaca. :-)
A. Taught Courses
1. Postgraduate Certificate (PgCert), contoh: Economics and Finance PgCert, Brighton Business School, University of Brighton. Waktu studi kurang lebih 9 bulan untuk full time dan 2 tahun untuk part time.
2. Postgraduate Diploma (PgDip), contoh: Economics for Natural Resource and Environmental Management PgDip, Cranfield University. Waktu studi kurang lebih 8-12 bulan untuk full time dan 1-3 tahun untuk part time.
3. Master of Arts (MA), contoh: Global Development and Political Economy of International Resources MA, Faculty of Education, Social Sciences and Law, University of Leeds. Waktu studi kurang lebih 12 bulan untuk full time dan 2 tahun untuk part time.
4. Master of Science (MSc), contoh: Economics and Financial Economics MSc, University of Nottingham. Waktu studi kurang lebih 12-15 bulan untuk full time dan 2 tahun untuk part time.
5. Master of Laws (LLM), contoh: International Finance Regulation and Corporate Law LLM, Brunel University. Waktu studi kurang lebih 12-15 bulan untuk full time dan 24-27 bulan untuk part time.
6. Master of Business Administration, contoh: Islamic and Finance Banking MBA, University of East London. Waktu studi kurang lebih 12-14 bulan untuk full time dan 14 bulan-5 tahun untuk part time.
B. Research Degrees
1. Master of Philosophy (MPhil), contoh: Work, Employment and Globalisation MPhil, Cardiff University. Waktu studi kurang lebih 12-24 bulan untuk full time dan 2-4 tahun untuk part time.
2. Master of Research (MRes), contoh: Economics Mres, School of Economics and Finance, Queen Mary, University of London. Waktu studi kurang lebih 1 tahun untuk full time.
3. Doctorate of Philosophy ( DPhil atau PhD), contoh: International Development PhD, School of Social and Political Science, University of Edinburgh. Waktu studi 3-6 tahun untuk full time dan 5-6 tahun untuk part time.
